Welcome to Rising Up Counseling

Grace Manger Klein, MSW, LCSW

What has come between you and trusting your body?

how is past trauma holding you back?

How are you preventing burnout in a helping field?

Hi! I’m Grace.

I’m a licensed therapist, a social worker, and a queer woman in Portland, Oregon.

I work with teens and adults on issues related to: disordered eating, body image, fat acceptance, childhood trauma, LGBTQ identity, chronic illness, and neurodivergence. Through our work together, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of who you were, who you are, and who you want to be.

I also love working with therapists, teachers, helpers, and grad students who aspire to be in these fields.

my values

At the core of my practice is a commitment to social justice, anti-racism, body sovereignty, and building a world rooted in liberation from oppressive systems and white supremacy. I am a weight-inclusive therapist who loves working with folks of all sizes. I encourage people to challenge the systems of power and societal expectations that do not work for them. I get curious with folks about how their identities affect their experiences in the world, which in turn affect the struggles they face. I regularly recognize my positionality in relation to my clients, and recognize the inherent power dynamic that exists in our therapeutic relationship. I stand against white supremacy, patriarchy, genocide, colonialism, antisemitism, war, and the shitstorm of this current Administration.

“You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time.”

- Angela Davis
